Boost Your Child’s Development with Art Classes at Silicon Valley Second School
Art is not just about drawing or painting—it's a gateway to unleashing creativity, imagination, and critical thinking in your child.
Some people think of art education as a luxury. But we know that creative activity is a building block of child development. Art education teaches students how to interpret, criticize, and use visual information — and how to make choices based on it.
Studies reveal a correlation between studying art and a higher level of academic achievement.
A report by Americans for the Arts found that young people who participate regularly in art classes are:
4x more likely to be recognized for academic achievement
4x more likely to participate in a math and science fair
4x more likely to win an award for writing an essay or poem
3x more likely to elected to student government at their schools
3x more likely to win an award for school attendance
Compared to children who do not participate in arts education programs.

What Types Of Art Classes Do You Offer?
We offer both private and group art classes for students age four and older. Lessons include drawing, painting, illustration, and introductory graphic design. Each class builds artistic skills step by step while keeping creativity at the center of learning.
What Age Can My Child Start Art Classes?
Children as young as four can begin in beginner-level art sessions. At this age, classes focus on coordination, color recognition, and imagination. Older students move into more detailed lessons that include proportion, shading, and design concepts.
What Materials Do Students Use?
Students use pencils, charcoal, markers, acrylic paints, watercolor, and digital tools for design projects. All materials are provided during class, though families are welcome to bring personal sketchbooks for practice at home.
Are Classes Private Or Group-Based?
We offer both. Private classes allow one-on-one instruction for faster skill development. Group classes focus on teamwork, shared creativity, and encouragement among peers. Teachers recommend a format based on each student’s goals and comfort level.
Who Teaches The Art Classes?
Classes are taught by experienced artists and designers who have studied fine arts, illustration, and digital design. Teachers bring real-world experience from galleries, design studios, and art education programs.
How Long Are The Classes?
Classes typically last 60 minutes. Younger children may begin with shorter sessions to build focus, while advanced students may study longer as projects become more complex.
What Does A Typical Lesson Include?
A typical class begins with a warm-up sketch or design exercise. The teacher then introduces a new skill such as shading, perspective, or color blending. Students complete guided projects and discuss their work with feedback at the end.
Do Students Work On Individual Projects?
Yes. Each student creates artwork that reflects their own style and interests. Teachers encourage exploration and help students develop unique portfolios over time.
Are There Art Exhibits Or Student Showcases?
